"Do not judge, and you will
not be judged.
Do not condemn, and you will not be
condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
Luke 6:37 (NIV)
The following are scriptures mentioned in the Expression of Grace story. This list will grow as the story grows. Right now I'm just referring to the scriptures that play a major role in the story line, but I will return later to add more supporting scriptures when the story is completed.
Luke 12:22-31
Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry
about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will
wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider
the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet
God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of
you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do
this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
II Corinthians 3:18
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being
transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes
from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Luke 8:11-15
This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.
Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and
takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and
be saved. Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy
when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but
in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thorns
stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked
by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the
seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear
the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
I Cor. 2:1-4
When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or
superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus
Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with
much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and
persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power.
Gal. 3.24
So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be
justified by faith.
Mathew
18:23-33
Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle
accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed
him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Since he was not able to
pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all
that he had be sold to repay the debt. The servant fell on his knees
before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back
everything. The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and
let him go. But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow
servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to
choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded. His fellow servant
fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay
you back. But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown
into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw
what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their
master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant
in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours
because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow
servant just as I had on you?
